Bardflys Returns to the Friend in Hand!
WHAT? Bardflys spoken word & poetry night.
WHERE? The Friend in Hand Hotel.
It's true, we've moved back home.
Just over a year ago Bardflys packed up and left the warm womb of Glebe as a way of "discovering ourselves" as we thought at the time.
We moved into a funky place in Surry Hills and rarely visited The Friend In Hand Hotel back in Glebe, except at Xmas and Easter, which were always awkward and difficult occasions, what with us being "out of it" at the time and not feeling that The Friend In Hand Hotel understand our emotional state any longer.
Eventually the money ran out and all our clothes began to smell of bong-water, then the electricity got cut off and we had no credit on our phone. We were truly in dire straits. (The condition, not the band... though they really must be the most aptly named group in the world... but I digress.)
Around that time The Friend In Hand, no doubt using it's strange maternal instincts, rang Bardflys and said we could move back home to the leafy suburbia of Glebe if we wanted to. We pondered, counted the change in the back of the couch, scraped the bong dry, ate the last of our flatmates Black & Gold Tasty Cheese with a wrinkled tomato, mouldy whole egg mayonnaise and Tobasco that had somehow gone grey, all on some stale bread that a stray crystal-meth freak had been sleeping on under the sink, and said:
"Yes, we'll take it!"
And so we return...
We are glad to have
We are also glad to have what to
Hey, man! We have . want some? want some?
